Our Faculty and Staff

Larry Davolt assumed the role of Principal in the Summer of 2020, from the retiring Terry Chance. His desire for FSCH is to continue the tradition of “Quality Education in a Christian Environment.” Mr.D. came to FSCH soon after graduating from Pittsburg State University. Two generations of students have passed through his science classroom since the fall of 1991. He has taught classes from junior high earth science to senior level physics and calculus. Classes that he has taught in addition to science include Bible and math. Mr.Fix-it has been involved in building maintenance since he started teaching.

Mr.D lives in Cherokee, Kansas, and attends a small rural church (Monmouth Trinity Holiness) in the McCune area, that he also pastored for 15 years. Larry and Kris have been married for over 32 years, and have three grown children, Nathan, Faith, and Tim, and seven grandchildren.
When he is not at school he is either working on things like cars and houses, or serving the Fort Scott community as an EMT.

Mr.D’s sense of accomplishment comes from the success of his students, and the verse, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3John 1:4 NKJV

Larissa Hunter is committed to educating students in a Christ-centered, warm, loving and safe environment.  She believes that working together with parents will help ensure the success of the student in the classroom. She endeavors to build a strong academic and spiritual foundation for little learners.  She believes that learning should be a lifelong pursuit and that learning can be fun.

Larissa Hunter earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Hobe Sound Bible College (2004). She has been teaching preschool and kindergarten classes at FSCH since the 2014/2015 school year.

Ryan Kellenberger graduated from FSCH. My college degrees include the following:
Pitt State – Math Education major
Pitt State – Finance major
K-State – Accounting major
K-State – Masters in Accounting

This is his second year teaching. He taught one year at Bronaugh School District – 7th – 12th  grade Math. He became a teacher because he wanted the opportunity to show Christ to young people on a daily basis. Ryan enjoys seeing young people succeed as students and as people.

Ryan is excited to teach at FSCH because he can unashamedly share his love for God to the students. At FSCH, he can do this without governmental restriction. He is so humbled and excited to be able to invest in students at the school that was such a blessing him.

Esther has taught at FSCH for many years. She lives with her husband Victor on a farm in Fort Scott, and has two children, Alex and Kaitlyn She got her teaching degree from Mid-American Nazarene University.

Karen Hallbauer graduated from Independence Bible School (Independence, KS).
she attended Independence Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree
in Elementary Education. She then went on to attend Hobe Sound Bible College, and
graduated with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, and a Bachelor’s in Intercultural
Studies (Missions).

Karen became a teacher ultimately because she felt God’s calling to this field of work. She
has always loved working with and being around children. She did not know what she wanted
to be until after graduation from High School. She always felt very strongly that she would be
working with children. Teaching children to love God, to learn, and to love learning is a
passion of mine.

Karen enjoys many things about teaching, but my favorite thing is seeing children
realize how much God loves and cares for them.

Karen Schellack started teaching at FSCH in 2006. Having previously taught at other schools, she has worked in education for over 24 years.

She attended Hobe Sound Bible College, Kansas City College and Bible School, Missouri Southern State College, Draughon Business College, and Nazarene Bible College to complete her degree.

Mrs. Schellack considers her teaching as a ministry. Her students and their success is a high priority. She currently teaches primarily 7/8th-grade classes but also teaches speech and computer applications for high school.

Karen and her family moved to Fort Scott from Overland Park in 2002. Allen and she have been married for over 38 years. Dustin and Josh, their sons, are married and also live in Fort Scott.

Music, history, flea markets, flowers, and time with family are some of her favorite things

Jeremy Budy is beginning his twentieth year of teaching here at FSCH. He is also an alumnus, having attended all twelve years of schooling and graduated in 1996. He assumed the role of Assistant Principal in 2021. Mr. Budy received his Bachelor of Education in Social Studies in 2001, from Pittsburg University, and began teaching at FSCH that fall. He currently teaches all of the upper-level social studies classes as well as Algebra I, 7th Grade math, a Bible class, and high school PE. He is also the coach of both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams.
Mr. Budy currently lives in Fort Scott with this wife, Amy, of 21 years, and their three kids, Dominick, Mackenzie, and Kynleigh.

Along with teaching, Mr. Budy also runs a lawn mowing business around town. When he is not in school or mowing yards, he is usually spending time with his family or out in the woods hunting.

Sarah Pridey has been teaching at FSCH since 2005.  In first grade Mrs. Pridey knew she was called to become a teacher, and teaching has become her passion.  Her greatest joy is seeing the elated look of accomplishment on her student’s faces.  Mrs. Pridey has taught Kindergarten, grades 1&2, upper elementary reading, and language arts.  Currently Mrs. Pridey is teaching junior high and high school language arts and journalism.  She is also the children’s pastor at Garnett Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. Pridey attended FSCH from preschool through twelfth grade.  She graduated from Pittsburg State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  She went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 2016.

Sarah and her husband Chip live in Fort Scott and have 3 precious children: Ashton, Savannah, and Gunner.  They enjoy music, the Jayhawks, and family time.
